The Position:

Maintenance and Plant Electrician

Monday to Friday 7.30am – 4.30m (with the flexibility to work longer hours as required for break downs and emergency work)

Are you an experienced electrician with a passion for automation, innovation, and hands-on problem solving? MCG is looking for a Maintenance and Plant Electrician to join our dedicated team and help drive productivity and quality across our operations.

 About the Role

As a Maintenance and Plant Electrician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and developing electrical and automation systems across our concrete batching and production facilities. You’ll work closely with engineers, technicians, and the production team to minimize downtime and continuously improve our systems.

This is a hands-on, diverse role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and wants to grow their skills in automation, CNC machinery, and preventative maintenance.

 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment to code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  • Develop, program, and implement automation systems for batching and production.
  • Design and build control panels and program PLCs.
  • Perform and manage preventive maintenance activities.
  • Inspect and ensure safety and function of components such as wiring, breakers, and transformers.
  • Liaise with production staff to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
  • Design, build, and maintain plant equipment and tooling.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry standards and technologies.

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

  • Trade-qualified electrician with relevant certifications.
  • Strong experience in industrial or plant maintenance.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming and electrical design.
  • Understanding of automation in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proactive and team-oriented mindset.

 Skills We’d Love to Grow with You

  • CAD drawing and CNC machine operation.
  • CNC programming and machining of custom moulds and tooling.
  • Advanced control systems for concrete production equipment.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on role, so a reasonable level of physical fitness is required to carry out manual tasks and maintenance duties safely and effectively.

Service & Installation – Full-Time RoleService & Installation 

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (with the flexibility to work longer hours as required and cover for other Service Persons when necessary)

McDonald Concrete Group is looking for a well-presented, friendly, polite, and highly organized individual to join our busy team servicing, installing, and maintaining our Waste Water Treatment systems.

This is a varied role that involves traveling around the lower North Island, with the occasional overnight stay required for out-of-town work.

Essential Attributes, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • Physically fit, trustworthy, and reliable
  • Enjoys driving and meeting new people, with a willingness to stay out of town occasionally
  • Clean Driver’s License (HT & Forklift licenses are advantageous)
  • Knowledge of electrical/plumbing/pumps is a plus
  • Ability to pilot wide load deliveries (training will be provided if needed)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and focused
  • Professional and courteous manner
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask efficiently

Additional Information:

  • Full training provided, including for wide load pilot driving
  • Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
